Why were my Impressions rejected?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Your Impressions are a crucial part of your Clear Aligner journey. They serve as the foundation for the digital model that our team uses to create your personalized treatment plan. The accuracy and detail of these Impressions are vital to the success of your treatment.

If your Impressions do not capture the correct position or shape of your teeth with the necessary level of detail, we may need to ask you to redo them. To avoid any delays in your Clear Aligner treatment, please take extra care when completing your Impressions.

Do I have to do the Impressions Kit or can I just buy the Clear Aligners?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

All patients are required to complete the Impressions Kit, unless you prefer to go in clinic to have an intraoral scan ($100 cost). We are unable to fabricate Clear Aligners or a treatment plan without the Impressions. Although if you purchase your Clear Aligners we will send you an Impression Kit free of charge.

Eligibility

How do I see if I am eligible for Clear Aligners?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Schedule a free 15-minute e-consultation with a Bitesoft expert to find out if you’re eligible for treatment.

Why wouldn’t someone be eligible for Clear Aligners?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

There are several reasons why someone might not be eligible for clear aligner treatment. Here are some common factors:

1. Severe Dental Issues

  • Severe misalignment or bite issues (e.g., significant overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite) may require more advanced orthodontic treatment, such as traditional braces, instead of clear aligners.
  • Gum disease or untreated cavities could prevent clear aligner treatment because proper oral health is essential for the treatment's success.

2. Teeth That Are Not Fully Erupted

  • Clear aligners are not ideal for patients who have baby teeth still present or for those whose teeth have not fully erupted, as the treatment requires adult teeth to be in place for proper alignment.

3. Non-Compliance Risk

  • Clear aligners require a high level of patient compliance. If a patient is not committed to wearing the aligners for the recommended 20-22 hours per day, the treatment might not be effective. In such cases, other forms of orthodontic treatment might be recommended.

4. Complex or Large Tooth Movements

  • Clear aligners are most effective for moderate teeth movements. If the required tooth movement is too complex or involves significant rotation or tilting, traditional braces may be a better option.

5. Existing Dental Appliances

  • If a patient has other orthodontic appliances like retainers or dental work (e.g., bridges or crowns) that interfere with the fit of aligners, they may not be a good candidate for clear aligners. In saying that, we can work around bridges and crowns.

6. Age Restrictions

  • While clear aligners can be effective for teens and adults, younger children with growing mouths may not be suitable candidates. Treatment may need to wait until the patient is 14 and over.

7. Jaw Problems or Skeletal Issues

  • If the patient has significant jaw alignment problems or skeletal issues (such as severe jaw discrepancies or temporomandibular joint disorders), clear aligners may not be sufficient, and alternative treatments such as traditional braces or surgery may be recommended.

8. Lack of Commitment to Regular Check-ins

  • Our clear aligner treatment requires regular check-ins  (remotely through the dental monitoring app). If the patient is unable or unwilling to follow up regularly, this could affect eligibility or the success of the treatment.

In these cases, the treatment plan would either be adjusted to another form of orthodontic care or postponed until the patient is a better candidate. It's always best for patients to have a professional consultation to determine the most appropriate treatment for their needs.

How old do I have to be to receive treatment?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

We treat patients starting at age 14. If you're under 18, parental consent is required. Additionally, we need to ensure that all baby teeth have been lost before beginning treatment.

I have wisdom teeth that need to be removed, can I still be treated?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

We recommend that patients have their wisdom teeth removed if they are causing pain. Once the gums have fully healed from the removal, we can proceed with treatment to realign your smile. However, if your wisdom teeth are not causing discomfort, there’s no need for removal, and we can still proceed with your treatment.

I have a permanent retainer, can I still be treated?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

We ask that any patients wanting to undergo treatment have their permanent retainer removed. Unfortunately we are unable to align your smile if the retainer is still in place.

Removing a permanent retainer is usually a simple and painless procedure.

My tooth is fractured, can I still be treated?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

No, unfortunately you will need to have your tooth fixed before taking part in treatment.

Can I have dental work done throughout my treatment?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Your regular dental hygienist clean is absolutely fine. However if you require a more complicated procedure please contact us as soon as possible.

Treatment

How do Bitesoft Clear Aligners move my teeth?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Our Bitesoft Clear Aligners use gentle, calibrated pressure to gradually shift your teeth into their ideal positions. This pressure triggers the body to remodel the bone surrounding the teeth. When force is applied to a tooth, the periodontal ligament (PDL) — a group of connective tissue fibers that anchor the tooth to the bone — compresses. In response, the bone on the pressured side undergoes resorption, while on the opposite side, new bone is formed.

This process involves two types of bone cells:

  • Osteoclasts: These break down the bone on the compressed side of the ligament.
  • Osteoblasts: These build new bone on the stretched side.

Each Clear Aligner moves your teeth in small, safe increments, monitored by our team throughout your specific treatment timeline.

What are Bitesoft Clear Aligners made from?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

All of our Clear Aligners are crafted from Zendura™ FLX, a BPA-free material. We choose Zendura™ FLX because we believe aligner therapy should be:

  • Firm, yet gentle
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Invisible and remain clear throughout treatment

Zendura™ FLX outperforms many standard plastic materials. While most plastics lack elasticity, making them prone to damage and unable to return to their original shape, Zendura™ FLX features a specially designed elastomeric layer. This unique feature allows the aligners to recover from any movement or damage caused by the opposing dental arch, ensuring they mold perfectly to your mouth.

Zendura™ FLX is truly one-of-a-kind. It’s the only material specifically designed to generate lower initial force upon insertion, while its elastic recovery provides continuous, greater tooth movement force over time—something traditional thermoplastics can’t match.

Do Bitesoft Clear Aligners hurt?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Discomfort at the beginning of your treatment is normal and as you get used to wearing an aligner you’ll notice this subside. Each new set of aligners can cause mild discomfort and this is why we recommend using your chewies to help your mouth adjust faster and to relieve some pressure.

Can I choose to straighten only my Top Teeth?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Yes, but only at-home treatment. In-clinic treatment requires both arch alignment. You still need to do an Impression for both arches, as it’s important to make sure your occlusion (bite) is healthy at the end of treatment.

How long does Bitesoft Clear Aligner treatment take?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Depending on your teeth, the severity of your alignment and whether you follow your treatment plan completely, we tend to see results vary from 4-18 months.

How often do I wear my Bitesoft Clear Aligners?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Everyday for 20-22 hours or 10-12 hours if you are using the Night Time Clear Aligners. Only to be removed for cleaning, brushing, flossing and whitening folks!

Oops! I’ve lost one of my Bitesoft Aligners!?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Please message us ASAP! Depending on where you are within your treatment we may be able to move you onto the next step however we do need to assess your progress before making this decision.

Should I keep my old Bitesoft Aligners throughout my treatment?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Yes, if not just as a souvenir of us but also in case you lose an aligner. This is VERY important. If you are known for misplacing things you will always have a previous set to go back to.

What if I have concerns about the way my teeth are moving during my treatment?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Send a message via the Dental Monitoring app and someone will be in contact within 12/24 hours. We’re here to help and to answer any questions you may have.

What if I am not happy with my results?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

If your teeth don’t replicate the expected results in your 3D treatment plan, we will look into preparing some refinement aligners to be added at the end of treatment.

We offer these refinements at no cost, however to qualify for free refinements you must have followed your prescribed treatment completely.

Refinements must be requested within 10 days of finishing your treatment.

What are refinement Aligners?

B255BF17-4AD9-4A8D-BCAA-AEA94C572E23

Refinement aligners are extra aligners needed at the end of treatment if there is still some movement needed. Just like people, some teeth are more stubborn than others!
